ClassifEye secures $1.2 million funding for biometric authentication using mobile camera Phones

ClassifEye, a developer of identity management solutions for mobile device, has secured a $1.2 million equity investment from Nobska Ventures. ClassifEye's software technology enables fingerprint authentication and identification using existing mobile camera phones, for handset security, authentication and non-repudiation of financial transactions.

"We believe that ClassifEye can dramatically accelerate expansion of mobile commerce applications in the US and abroad, " said Charlie Moore, Managing Director of Nobska "Our discussions with major carriers and equipment manufacturers confirm that many will strongly prefer ClassifEye's unique technology over more costly, dedicated sensors..., thereby eliminating an existing bottleneck in deployment of biometric enabled handsets and the roll-out of enabled services."

ClassifEye technology eliminates the need for dedicated hardware, like, fingerprint sensors, USB keys and code generators, thereby reducing costs for mass market deployment. The technology enables device security and biometric identification for applications including mCommerce, mBanking, enterprise security, law enforcement and homeland security.

VeriSign has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Snapcentric, a provider of online fraud detection solutions using advanced anomaly detection technology, in a transaction valued at $12 million. The newly acquired technology will be a key addition to VeriSign’s suite of authentication solutions, providing an invisible layer of protection against online fraud.

Israeli biometrics security firm IDesia raised $3 million from Partech International

Israeli biometrics security company, IDesia, has raised $3 million in investment capital from venture capital firm, Partech International. The new capital will help to accelerate the development of IDesia's biometric identification technology, which leverages the body's natural Bio-Dynamic Signature (BDS).

IDesia plans to enter into several strategic partnerships with consumer electronics manufacturers, solution providers, and system integrators to accelerate market penetration. Currently, IDesia is partnered with Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Israeli provider of software Digital Rights Management (DRM) and USB-based authentication solutions.

IDesia's BDS technology is based on electro-bio signature that is unique to each individual and can be used to accurately identify any one person from all others. Unlike most biometric technologies, which use pictures or static bio-signals to enroll and identify a person, BDS is based on intrinsic electro-biometric dynamic signals acquired by merely touching a small conductive or metal surface.

Located in Caesarea, IDesia was founded by Baruch Levanon, CEO and Chairman, the founder and former CEO of Power Paper, a provider of thin and flexible micro-power source technology and devices, which has completed a $30 million fundraising round in November 2005. Jacob Perry, the Chairman of the board of United Mizrahi Bank, is serving as a Director in IDesia. Formerly, President and CEO of cellcom and Chief of the Israeli General Security Service, Perry also serves on the Board of Directors of Magal Security Systems Ltd. and as Chairman of Lipman Electronics Engineering.
